💡 MicroTrain: Turn the PDF into a game
Every restaurant chain has a training manual. It is a PDF. It is 60 pages long. It is sitting in a WhatsApp group, unopened, since March. The new guy did not read it. He was never going to. Then he messes up an order, and the manager says "it's all in the manual." Sure. But nobody reads the manual. Reading is not training. That is fine when you have one outlet. It is expensive when you have thirty.

Here's what we're thinking:

💡 The Idea:
MicroTrain takes a boring 20 to 60 page training PDF and turns it into a short, mobile, game-like course that a frontline worker actually finishes.

🛠️ Product:
A manager drags the PDF into a browser. The tool reads it, pulls out the actual steps, the checklists and the safety warnings, and throws away the filler. Then it builds the course. Bite-size lessons. Quick quizzes. Flashcards that come back a few days later so the stuff sticks. Even a two-minute video with an AI presenter reading out the key bits.

The worker gets a link on WhatsApp. They do it on the bus. It works without signal, because the lessons are saved on the phone. Each module takes three minutes, not three hours.

The manager gets a dashboard. Who finished. Who is stuck. Which step everyone keeps getting wrong. That last one is gold, because it usually means the process itself is broken, not the person.

The magic moment: you send a franchise owner a playable link built from their own dusty manual, before they have paid you a rupee, and they watch a new hire finish module one on their phone in four minutes.

💵 The Model: ₹9,999 a month per company. Not per seat, per company, so a 40-outlet chain pays the same as a 4-outlet one and feels like it robbed you. The only real cost is the AI processing and the video generation, which happens once per manual. After that it is just serving pages. Gross margins sit around 85 to 90%. Upsell path is obvious: charge more for multi-brand accounts, custom branding, and plugging into the HR system they already pay for.

🚀 The Scale Play: Land with training. Stay for the data. Once you know exactly where every new hire fumbles across 5,000 outlets, you are not a course tool anymore. You are the operating layer for frontline competence. Sell that to the HR software giants, who have the customers but none of this. Or keep it and become the default place every franchise in India dumps its manual.

🤑 Money Shot: : A 1986 clinic just took its first cheque. It was ₹350 crore.

Chennai's Iswarya Fertility Center raised over ₹350 crore, roughly $37 million, from global healthcare investor OrbiMed Asia. It runs more than 85 centres across eight states and says it has served over 300,000 couples in four decades. This was its first ever outside funding round.

📈🤖 Big Drop: Apple is suing OpenAI.

Apple filed suit against OpenAI on Friday over alleged trade secret theft and breach of contract, claiming the AI lab took its intellectual property to build its own consumer hardware. Apple named OpenAI's hardware chief Tang Tan, a former Apple VP, and Chang Liu, a former Apple engineer, as defendants. Apple says over 400 of its former employees now work at OpenAI. OpenAI says it has no interest in other companies' trade secrets.

The wild part: these two are still partners. ChatGPT is baked into the iPhone. Everything here is an allegation, and it is now a court's problem. But the signal for founders is clear. The friendly-partner era of AI is over. If you are building on top of a big lab, assume they will one day compete with you, and price that into your plans.

🚗 CarDekho is finally going public. Parent company Girnar Software plans to file draft IPO papers this quarter for a ₹3,000 to ₹3,500 crore issue, chasing a ₹13,000 to ₹15,000 crore valuation, up from ₹9,000 crore at its last raise five years ago.

💎 Aukera raised ₹90 crore. The lab-grown diamond brand pulled in ₹90 crore led by Alteria Capital, with InnoVen Capital and Lighthouse Canton, less than a year after a $15 million equity round. This one is debt, not equity. It went from 13 stores to 35 in twelve months.

🤖 Nurix AI bought Verloop.io. Mukesh Bansal's Nurix acquired the conversational AI startup for an undisclosed sum, pairing its voice platform with Verloop's chat automation. Verloop says it handles over 20 million customer interactions a month.

🛒 Flipkart's employees got a payday. Flipkart announced its second ESOP liquidity event in a year, letting staff sell up to 5% of vested options at ₹713.4 each, with payouts due in August. Reports peg the implied valuation at about $38.2 billion, a 6% bump.

🎤 Arijit Singh is now an angel investor. Live entertainment startup thumpN raised over $3.75 million in a pre-seed round backed by Arijit Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan and Badshah, alongside Paytm's Vijay Shekhar Sharma.

📉 Funding is stuck at flat. Indian startups raised just $107 million across 27 deals in the second week of July, the second straight muted week, with the biggest round being Adage Automation's $24 million.
